We will restore nearly 5,000 hectares of Amazon Forest and generate around 1 million carbon credits over 25 years.

re.green is one of the winners of ProFloresta+, one of the largest public programs to drive the generation of forest-restoration carbon credits in Brazil. The initiative, led by Petrobras in partnership with BNDES, used a public call to select the proposals that stood out most on technical, environmental, operational and commercial criteria for the recovery of degraded areas in the Amazon.

re.green’s proposal calls for restoring more than 4,800 hectares in the Amazon biome, with the potential to generate approximately 1 million carbon credits for Petrobras over 25 years. The work begins with the planting of native species and the encouragement of natural regeneration in degraded, low-productivity areas on private properties, and will expand through new areas and partnerships with rural producers who wish to dedicate land to restoration.

The project combines climate benefits, biodiversity recovery and local socio-bioeconomic development, with the formation of value chains for native seeds and seedlings, sustainable timber management, the generation of jobs and income, and the strengthening of technical capacity in restoration. All of the work is carried out with socio-environmental safeguards aligned with Brazilian legislation and international agreements: structured stakeholder consultation, full respect for territorial rights — with no overlap with Indigenous or traditional territories — and continuous socio-environmental monitoring.

Being selected for ProFloresta+ recognizes the technical and methodological robustness of our projects and reinforces re.green’s leadership in large-scale restoration and in the generation of high-quality carbon removal credits in Brazil. We have the science, the technology and the execution capacity to turn the recovery of nature into a development agenda of national reach,” says Thiago Picolo, CEO of re.green.

The credits will be high-integrity carbon removal credits, certified to an international standard with the Core Carbon Principles (CCP) label from the ICVCM, the leading global independent governance body for the voluntary carbon market.

About ProFloresta+

Created to boost the voluntary carbon market in Brazil and expand ecological restoration in the Amazon, ProFloresta+ launched its first public call during COP30, in November 2025. The program provides for the purchase, by Petrobras, of carbon credits from the restoration of native Amazon vegetation through long-term contracts — acquiring up to 5 million credits, distributed across up to five contracts of 1 million credits each.
