We had the honor of winning The Earthshot Prize, often described as the “Oscars of Sustainability”. In the “Protect and Restore Nature” category, we became the first Brazilian organization to receive one of the world’s most prestigious awards for initiatives tackling climate change and environmental threats.

The announcement was made on November 5 2025, during the awards ceremony held at the Museum of Tomorrow in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. We were recognized for our work rebuilding threatened ecosystems by combining cutting-edge technology, science and community-led actions with strong potential for large-scale impact.

Created in 2020 by Prince William of the United Kingdom, The Earthshot Prize aims to inspire and reward innovative solutions to environmental challenges across different sectors and regions of the world. By joining the group of just 25 winners honored since the prize was launched, we help reinforce Brazil’s role as a global leader in ecosystem restoration and climate action.

Our victory drew strong media attention, with in-depth stories that help tell this chapter of our journey:

“Winning The Earthshot Prize is a milestone not only for re.green, but for the entire restoration sector in Brazil and, above all, for everyone who believes that recovering our biomes is rebuilding the future. Forests are essential for the climate, biodiversity, the economy and life itself. This prize motivates us to further expand our impact and to inspire those who want to follow the same path,”

A prize for Brazil

Since 2021, we have been working to restore degraded areas in the Amazon and Atlantic Forest biomes. Today, more than 17,000 hectares are under active restoration, within a total project area of 34,000 hectares — almost three times the size of Paris.

We combine artificial intelligence, drones, forest genetics and data analytics to design, execute and monitor restoration projects with strong ecological, social and financial impact. So far, we have planted over 6 million native seedlings, and we have a clear goal: to reach 1 million hectares restored, capturing around 15 million tonnes of CO₂ per year.

We also manage Bioflora, one of the largest native species nurseries in Brazil, which produces around 3 million seedlings per year, and we work with 22 partner nurseries to ensure genetic diversity and biome-specific restoration. Our innovative model has already attracted global partners and investors, including Nestlé, Microsoft, Vivo, Agro Penido and BNDES.

“re.green’s victory reinforces Brazil’s role as a climate innovation hub, home to some of the world’s most important forests and pioneering projects in restoration and the bioeconomy. With Earthshot recognition, we hope to attract new international partners, scale our operations and inspire similar models in other regions of the planet”

This year’s Earthshot candidates were selected from nearly 2,500 nominations, submitted by a network of 575 nominators across 72 countries. The 15 finalists were chosen based on assessments carried out by The Earthshot Prize’s selection partners and its Expert Advisory Panel, a global group of more than 100 people with deep experience in conservation, science, technology, business, finance, academia and public policy.
