Microsoft

One of the largest nature-based carbon removal contracts in the world.

Intro

Across two agreements signed in 2024, re.green and Microsoft joined forces to restore more than 33,000 hectares of native forests in the Amazon and the Atlantic Forest — an area equivalent to three times the size of Paris.

The partnership is part of Microsoft’s goal of becoming carbon negative by 2030, and goes beyond carbon capture: since operations began, forest connectivity has already increased by 4% in the Atlantic Forest and 23% in the Amazon, creating corridors for threatened species.

More than 230 people have been directly employed and trained in seed collection, meliponiculture and forest-fire prevention.
