Nestlé and re.green partner to restore cocoa and coffee landscapes in Southern Bahia
July 17, 2025
Nestlé has selected re.green as its technical partner to lead the ecological restoration of 2,000 hectares of Atlantic Forest in Southern Bahia, as part of a broader initiative to promote more sustainable and resilient value chains. This initiative is part of Nestlé’s Global Reforestation Program, focusing on cocoa and coffee production regions.
With the planting and regeneration of 3.3 million native trees, the project will directly contribute to the restoration of strategic ecosystems, improved soil quality, protection of water resources, and increased biodiversity. Additionally, the initiative will generate approximately 880,000 high-integrity carbon credits over 30 years, with strong environmental and social safeguards.

re.green’s efforts will focus on areas of critical importance for conservation and connectivity within the Atlantic Forest — one of the most biodiverse and threatened biomes in the world. The company is responsible for the entire technical restoration process, including mapping, planning, cultivation of native species, and long-term monitoring.
Currently, re.green has nine projects underway in the Atlantic Forest and Amazon biomes, operating across more than 30,000 hectares in the states of Bahia, Pará, Maranhão, and Mato Grosso — with 12,000 hectares in active restoration and nearly 6 million seedlings already cultivated in partnership with 29 local nurseries. The partnership with Nestlé exemplifies how strategic collaborations between the private sector and restoration specialists can generate positive impact for climate, nature, and people.
We’re doing it.
